Green Bin - Route & Date Changes

A Chara,

Please see below announcement that I have received from PJ Howell, Director of Services, Environment Department, Fingal County Council. As you can see, some of the route dates are due to be changed. You can download your new date from the website as advised. www.greenbin.ie . The Council will be sending a letter to all households on these changes.

If I can be of any assistance on this or any issue please feel free to contact me.

Is mise, le meas.

Eoghan

Dear Councillor,

As you are aware Greyhound Recycling & Recovery are providing the green bin service on behalf of the Dublin Region since January of this year. They have indicated to us that they are going to engage in a route rationalisation in the Fingal area commencing on the 7th September, 2009. The aim of the exercise is to greatly improve on the efficiency of the collection routes which were inherited from Oxigen.  The effect of the change will be to change the collection day of the green bin for a significant number of Fingal households.

As part of its communication programme to announce these changes, the following will be undertaken:

1.. An explanatory letter – in Irish and English – will be dispatched to every household along with a new calendar commencing on 31st August
2.. Information advertisements will be placed in the local press
3.. Information posters will be displayed in council offices, libraries, supermarkets and other key places in the locality
4.. Greyhounds dedicated Green Bin Customer Service Team is available on 1890 342 342 for any customer questions or queries
5.. Updates will be posted on www.greenbin.ie from 31 August.  There will be a link to this from the www.fingalcoco.ie
6.. A press release will be issued to local and national media outlets (to include traditional and non-traditional)
7.. New collection dates/days will be available through the Greyhound website – www.greenbin.ie – from Sunday 6 September. There will also be a link to this from www.fingalcoco.ie

With the extent of the re-routing it is almost inevitable that there will be some disruption and confusion despite everybody’s best efforts.  It is most likely it will take a few weeks to bed in and the overall outcome we hope will be an improved level of service.

We need to keep in mind the material in the bin in question is dry recyclables and if people have to keep it a while longer it should generally not be a huge problem for the householder.

Customers are advised to contact Greyhounds dedicated Green Bin Customer Service Team directly on 1890 342 342 / customercare@greenbin.ie or the Fingal County Council Environmental Awareness Team on 01 890 6236 / envserv@fingalcoco.ie with any questions or queries.

Regards

Village Green Malahide

eob-at-village-green-016The Village Green in Malahide has been scheduled for some much needed upgrade work and repair. I have being working with local residents over the last few months and I am delighted that at a recent Area Committee meeting, Fingal County Council have agreed that there will be additional planting, pruning of shrubs and general tidy up of the area. These much needed works are currently being carried out and should be completed in the next few weeks.

Seabury FAI Mini Pitch

eob-john-delaneyI am pleased to inform you that the F.A.I. Multi-Use Mini Pitch earmarked for Seabury has moved one step closer to fruition. F.C.C is currently in the process of assessing the tender received for the work and a contractor is likely to be selected in the coming weeks. Work on the project is likely to begin in the next couple of months. I recently met with F.A.I. President John Delaney who spoke very enthusiastically about the positive impact the mini pitch initiative has had on communities across the country. It is great news that the Seabury pitch is back on track and I wish to commend the Seabury Residents Association for all the hard work they have put into securing this project which will be of great benefit to the area.
